If your LinkedIn network is reasonably large my guess is your Home Page feed is noisy and potentially even meaningless to you. I get it. It makes me a bit crazy some days. It’s actually why I prefer Sales Navigator to (my Sales Navigator Home Page Feed is far less noisy, and in fact, only features content and posts from the people I have saved as a Lead or Account – way more dialed in).

So, when I recently logged in to LinkedIn and received a pop-up asking me what topics I’m interested in, I was intrigued.

You can even pin the topics you’re most interested in. Pinning something brings it to the top of the list.

Topics and Hashtags

If you follow this process, your Home Page will be an entirely different experience. You will see your “communities” or topics and now your feed will be more relevant. Over the last four or five days, I have seen a difference in the posts on my Home Page and that is a very good and positive move on LinkedIn’s part.

See your communities

When you click the blue pencil next to “Your Communities,” you can pin the hashtags that are of the most interest to you.

When you click, “Discover More,” you see a range of hashtags by topic. Choose your favorite topics and decide what you want to come into your feed.

You can go to the search bar at the top and enter a hashtag. I entered #Leadership and the articles hashtagged with Leadership appear. Use hashtags for your own content and to find relevant people and their content.

Hashtage Leadership

Most importantly, can you use hashtags to find more of the right people to connect with and build a stronger more intentional network? I think so.
