Quick Tips, LinkedIn

In a previous Quick Tip, we mentioned how customizing your LinkedIn URL goes a long way. Not only does it enhance your profile, but it makes you look more professional and who doesn’t want that? To customize your LinkedIn URL on the new surface, follow these steps.

  1. Click on your profile. Once it takes you to a preview of your page, you will notice additional filters to the right of your screen. Under “Add new profile section” which is highlighted in blue, there is an option to “Edit your public profile.” Click on that option.

2. LinkedIn will then direct you to your “Public Profile” settings. Here, you are able to customize your LinkedIn URL as well as control how you appear on LinkedIn when people search your name without being logged in to LinkedIn.

On the right side, you will see a space with the heading “Edit public profile URL.” Click on the pencil icon next to your existing URL to change it.

As we recommended in our previous post, use your first and last name with no spaces. The less “busy” your URL is, the better! Click save and you now have a customized URL!

Including your URL correctly and creatively makes it easier for others to find your profile and increases the likelihood that it will be one of the first places they go to learn about your business and you.
