Looking for a new job? Recently graduated from college? Then tune into this: LinkedIn has a feature that you’re not going to want to miss! The “Open to new opportunities” button means that you can wipe the sweat off of your forehead when going through that daunting task of finding a new career. So take a deep breath and let’s take a look at how to turn on new opportunities.

Step 1: Go to your LinkedIn profile and click on the “Jobs” tab located at the top.

Step 2: Notice the link saying “Update career interests.” Click here.

Step 3: Here is where you let recruiters know that you are open! LinkedIn provides detailed criteria so that you are searching for the exact job you are looking for. For example, what types of roles you are considering, locations of where you will work, even down to preferred company size. LinkedIn has you covered across the board!

Step 4: Here is where the magic occurs – Under the area that says “Let recruiters know you’re open” you will see a button. Turn that button to “on” if you’d like to like recruiters and HR representatives know you are looking.

Important note: This setting is only visible to LinkedIn members that have a LinkedIn Recruiter subscription. Your Connections will not see that you have turned this feature on, unless they are on LinkedIn Recruiter. This may be important if you’re launching a covert job search.

Now go get yourself a cup of coffee because your work here is done. Yup, LinkedIn will now notify recruiters that you are searching for a job with the criteria listed and that is it. For recruiters, you may get a cup of coffee too because this will make your job even more enjoyable. So, enjoy the search!
