The LinkedIn blog is a great resource for top notch content and for up to date news on all things LinkedIn. Recently, I came across an article that aligns perfectly with Intero’s focus for Q1 – Your Profile. The article is entitled, “Brand YOU Year: How to Brand Yourself Without Sounding Like Everyone Else” and can be found by clicking here. What I found most interesting were the Top 10 Global Buzzwords found in LinkedIn profiles in 2014.

They are:

  1. Motivated
  2. Passionate
  3. Creative
  4. Driven
  5. Extensive Experience
  6. Responsible
  7. Strategic
  8. Track Record
  9. Organizational
  10. Expert

Inspired by this list, I asked our talented in-house recruiter, Erin Dore to add five more words that she sees regularly in the resumes she comes across. Her additions:

  1. Multi-tasking/multi-tasker
  2. Adaptable
  3. Versatile
  4. Collaborate/collaboration
  5. Leadership/leader

Are you guilty of using and possibly abusing these buzzwords in your profile, on your resume, and/or when describing what you do within your organization? I know I am. Take a minute to reflect. I challenge you to think of and use keywords that are more industry specific to you and your organization. This will help you stand out and better capture your level of expertise.
